We named this design after Mother Teresa who devoted her life to the service of the poor and dispossessed. In 1950, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity which runs homes for the diseased and unfortunate, soup kitchens, mobile clinics, dispensaries, counselling centres, orphanages and schools. She was awarded the Nobel Prize for peace in 1979 and was declared a saint by Pope Francis in 2016.
We dedicate this earring to Mother Teresa who embodies the message of peace and benevolence.
This collection is part of our 'Women of Strength' collection inspired by the Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchid, the national flower of Singapore, which was chosen because of its resilience as a species and the ability to bloom all year round. This collection is done in celebration of Singapore's Bicentennial and uses the Orchid as a symbol to represent strength and resilience.
