A Mother's Day Special

This Mother's Day, we caught up with 3 customers from Singapore for a special mother- daughter day out to try their hand at floral arrangement. The event was kindly sponsored by The Floral Atelier, the artisan floral experts. It was a heartwarming and cozy session as the mother and daughter pair worked together to create beautiful floral vase arrangements.

We spoke to each of them to shed light on their experience as a mom or daughter. Here are their stories.

Yanni is a mother of 4 and sometimes find it difficult to find 1 on 1 time with each of them. This floral arrangement workshop gave her the chance to spend time with her 12 year old daughter, Rachel, who has been busy with her PSLE prep this year.

We got them to share a little about what it's like being a mother, and a daughter.

Yanni

Q: What is one lesson you wish your daughter would learn from you?

A: Always seek God first in whatever you are doing.

Q: Best tip / words of wisdom or encouragement on raising children now.

A: As parents, do your best and learn through the process. Don't beat yourself up for not being the perfect parent.

Rachel

Q: What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt from your mother?

A: Always stand up for my family and myself. Be true to myself and not let any fear stop me from speaking up.

Q: Is there anything you’d always wanted to say to your mom but never had the chance to?

A: I love you mummy and I always look forward to spending time with you.

Deborah and Mom

DEBORAH'S MOM WEARS THE GOLD LABRADORITE TRINKET NECKLACE AND GOLD STRAWBERRY QUARTZ SQUARE BRACELET.

DEBORAH WEARS AQUAMARINE ADVENTURE NECKLACE AND GOLD SODALITE SQUARE BRACELET.

Talking to Deborah, her words truly touched us. Her mom's love for flowers made this a very fruitful day for the both of them. It was also a day Deborah would like to dedicate to her mom as a way of saying "thank you" for all the sacrifices she has made for the family throughout the years. It was a day she could truly focus on herself instead of her family.

Mom

Q: What is one lesson you wish your daughter would learn from you?

A: I wish for my daughter to experience motherhood when the time comes, to have the wisdom to know when to step up in the role as a mother and let career take a backseat and vice versa so that she can have the best of both worlds. It is possible to nurture your children to be upright and resilient in this challenging world and have a career too.. because you have us, our love and support.

Q: Best tip/words of wisdom or encouragement on raising children now

A: Be firm but fair when dealing with your children, no matter their age. Berate their misbehaviour  and not them as a person. Just as in Habit 2 by Stephen Covey, "Begin with the end in mind"

Deborah

Q: What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt from your mother?

A: My mom has taught me to live my life with a kind and open heart and to be resilient in the face of adversity. She always thinks of others before herself and has lived life with such grace and tenacity. She has balanced career and family with such poise, something I hope I am able to live up to in the future.

Q: Is there anything you’d always wanted to say to your mom but never had the chance to?

A: You are my creator, my mentor and the best friend a child can have. I am blessed to be protected under the wings of such a devoted mother. Today what I am, is because of you and dad. Thank you mom, for everything you did for me. No words can ever express my gratitude and love.

Grace and her Mom Betty

GRACE WEARS SILVER MINI WISHBONE NECKLACE

Grace felt that her mom Betty was always working hard at the warehouse with her father or mostly stayed at home. This was then the perfect opportunity for her to unwind, relax and spend some time together. With her first time trying out floral arrangement, it was easy to see she's having a great time.

Betty

Q:  What is one lesson you wish your daughter would learn from you?

A: I hope that she'd have the same heart and unconditional love for her daughter in future just as I have for her and to always find strength in family.

Grace

Q:  Is there anything you’d always wanted to say to your mom but never had the chance to?

A: Although I don't say it much, I want to thank you for loving me and always readily giving your time and effort, or even sacrificing your own happiness to make my life easier in the ways you can and do. I hope you know that it doesn't go all unseen and with every thing you do, I feel it from the depths of my heart and I love you.

It was definitely a morning well spent and we hope that this would be a memorable Mothers' Day celebration for them! Here's wishing all mothers a Happy Mothers' Day, thank you for all your hard work in nurturing and loving the young ones and don't forget to pamper yourselves on this special day.
